Iowa revisited - well for a bottle of red anyway!

So who am I to comment on specific wines really, having been brought up on “Shandy” and “Larger Black” and Blue Nunn thrown in on a Sunday.

However, as with other members of our business we have to taste from time to time the product for which we are creating our system around. Having only lived in Sonoma County since arriving in the USA, this really is my only exposure to wine (not a bad place to land I hear some of you say) and so I have grown up with the local Sonoma County wines.

The other day I had the opportunity to taste my second Iowa wine with friends, this wine was from White Oak Vineyards (Iowa). It was a red wine and described by the winery as “White Oak Red is the Merlot drinkers Wine! Many dry red drinkers prefer this one over the their favorite Merlots! It’s an unique blend that pairs well with a range of hearty dishes from prime rib to pasta marinara.” I am not sure with my limited wine knowledge that I could compare one with the other without them both being in front of me, but I can tell you everyone enjoyed the wine and finished the bottle prior to moving on – so we are all lushes (hey I found this picture under the definition of lush)

or everyone enjoyed something different - the real answer. So hats off to the Iowa winery – did you even know they had wineries in Iowa?
Here is a link to the winery and the wines they currently have available.

Cheers for now.
