Free the Grape, MD
Sorry this is not about Freeing the Grape Doctor. This is about Freeing the Grapes in Maryland.
Free the grapes is a national grass roots effort to allow the direct shipment of wine to consumers. This would allow wineries and retailers to ship to consumers. That alcoholic priviledge is not shared equally by all US citizens. The 21 Amendment did end Prohibition, but it allows states to regulate within their borders. Consequently, forced 3-tier distribution systems and other conditions have been put into effect by various states. You can find more about this at freethegrapes.org or the Wine Institute www.wineinstitute.org/initiatives/stateshippinglaws, you may also discover that your state has some bad laws too.
This is to ask for your help- With the 2010 Maryland Legislative 90day Session now one month away, MBBWL.ORG is gearing up to make this OUR year for change. We need you to spread the word to put pressure on the MD Legislators and We need your financial help to combat the moneyed liquor lobbyists this Session!
We need you to post our message on your facebook profile. We need you to post this message on your blogs. We need you to forward this to others. We need direct letters sent to Legislators they don't know where you live, they just need to know that you care to change this.We have great press, support from the business community, approval from the Comptroller’s Office and thousands of engaged consumer supporters just like you. None of this will make a difference if key members of the Maryland General Assembly aren’t with us! No donation is too small. You’d be amazed what we can do with only $20. You can also send us a check to the address listed below if that is more convenient. We are asking for a moderate single bottle of wine donation.
