It is interesting, and a great introduction to Chile your description of the Valleys of Chile but I think somewhat dated? The interesting valleys today Limari, San Antonio, Malleco, (great bottles 20 - 50 usd range) are from either further north than Aconcagua and or further south than Cúrico. What is more most people are in agreement today that the real factor that differentiates Chilean wine is the distance from the coast and or the Andes rather than the latitude / river valley. [Maipo will always make some great wines but is no longer the centre of innovation or investment]. Just some thoughts from the ground here in Chile pues...
